    Week Ending 27th June 2014

    Monday Morning

Represented Devon Association of Governors (DAG) on the panel formed to examine the applications of organisations wishing to be the sponsors of the new schools in Cranbrook. The meeting was at County Hall, Exeter, and included a panel membership of Councillors, Officers of Devon CC, Primary Headteachers, Secondary Headteachers, and School Governors. The recommendations will go to Devon CC Cabinet and then onwards to the government.

    Monday Afternoon

Notification of an Ofsted Inspection at East Worlington Primary School on Tuesday and Wednesday. Popped into the school to offer a few words of support.

Went to Chulmleigh Community College to receive the feedback from Jo Pyke (School Improvement Partner) who had visited the school to undertake an evaluation of aspects of the work of the school. Her reports are part of our own self-evaluation evidence and this report will help us have a better understanding on the school's strengths and areas for continuing professional development.

Reading through all my notes and information to refresh my overall knowledge about East Worlington Primary School. The on-going improvement work over the previous two years has provided much evidence and information and Directors know the school well.

    Wednesday Morning

Meeting Ofsted Inspector with Tim Newman who is one of the link Director for East Worlington Primary School. The main questions were around vision, governance systems and approaches, our knowledge of the school's performance, quality of teaching, Directors' own training and development and recruitment and Sports Premium Funding.

    Wednesday Afternoon

Meeting with the Ofsted Inspector and members of the Senior Leadership Team and the school's leadership (Tamsin Partridge) to receive feedback on the inspection. The report has to go through a number of Ofsted quality assurance procedures before it is made public. It is hoped the report will be in the public domain before the end of this term.

    Thursday Evening
Wow. What an experience. Attended the performance of the Tempest at Chulmleigh Community College. This was an incredible production. The whole concept of the performance was visionary. The quality of acting was unbelievable. The involvement of so many pupils including year 6 from all our schools was brilliant. There are not enough adjectives to describe the quality of this production. Well done to all pupils / students and staff involved. This certainly was an evening I will not forget.
